SO & SO

Please reach us at sillyquestions@sillysociety.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

If it makes your straight-laced librarian snort, then I think you have succeeded.

Upper elementary to junior high is the sweet spot, but 5 -100 works too.  If the grandparents are reading to a first grader, they hopefully both enjoy their time together.

Not this time.  This is a passion project in hopes of bringing smiles to children.  No one (outside of the printers) will be compensated in any way.  All proceeds from the sale of books will go directly towards purchasing and donating books to children's hospitals.

The short answer is YES.  But please provide the previous publication information along with the poem so we can acknowledge that.  The answer could be NO if a publisher has exclusive rights to the poem.  So please be sure you know the status.

We will work to try to include everyone we can.  Humorous poetry isn't always the easiest thing to write - especially if it's outside your style.  If needed, we will work with you to hone a poem if it needs a little adjustment.  But, in short, there are no guarantees.

"High-Cuckoo" is simply a silly Haiku-style poem.  Keep to the 5-7-5 syllable format, but the last line should be a funny twist to the small poem.  These will be featured at the top of the page, hence the "high" part of the name.  You may submit two high-cuckoo along with your three silly poems.

"Marginally Good Puns" are simply puns that will be featured in the "margins" of the book.  You may submit two puns you find funny along with your silly poems and high-cuckoo.  NOTE: Puns will be notated as "offered by" vs. "authored by" due to the word-of-mouth nature of them.  Because puns are very hard to trace their origins and are shared so often, we will acknowledge credit in a slightly different way.

No.  Although we definitely want to donate books to hospitals to be given as gifts to children (patients), they will also be made available to the general public.

Technically, NO, but then we won't know you exist.  Not to mention, the subtle lifelong regret may begin to rob you of joy.

We apologize if you don't see your info pop up right away.  It's not an automatic process and has to be personally input on our end.  We will hopefully get to that soon, but please feel free to send an email reminder: sillyquestions@sillysociety.org

That is the hope.  But we want to make sure our first one is off to a great start.

We hope you do.  You will be able to order books at cost (plus shipping).  As many as you want.  More details on that process will be made available once the book has gone to press.  We will also provide you with fundraising media to assist your efforts.

YES, but... we won't be including poems simply because they are submitted by kids.  They will be subject to the same consideration and expectation as anyone else.  It should also be noted that a parent/guardian will have to submit on their behalf, essentially signing off as their legal representative.

YES, please do.  You'll find the link on the STUDIO page.  See the BUTTON at the top of the page.

YES, some of the biggest names in children's poetry will be featured.
